The Leicester Longhorns have been part of University American football in the country for over two and a half decades being founded in 1985, by Alan Stocker.
Up until 2009 the Longhorns were a dual University team recruiting players from both Leicester and De Montfort.
They have recently become a single institute team through Leicester University and have changed their uniform from royal blue and white to green and maroon to match university colours.
The team has gone through several name changes in its history which include:
Leicester Longhorns - 1985-1990, 2006-Present
Leicester Lemmings - 1990-2002
Leicester Lightning - 2002-2006
